Royal Astronomy - μ-Ziq. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Royal Astronomy. Исполнитель: μ-Ziq. 1999 dance. Royal Astronomy is the fifth studio album by English electronic music producer Mike Paradinas under the stage name μ-Ziq, released on 26 July 1999 by Hut Records and Astralwerks. Jon Dolan of Spin described Royal Astronomy as Paradinas' most ambitious work to date: a bold stab at classicism steeped in lush orchestrations that can be anything from sweetly elegiac to darkly bizarre-as if the embattled soul conducting the musicians is being torn between millennial nightmares and wistful visions of. After the drum'n'bass updates on his previous full-length, Royal Astronomy in large part returns Mike Paradinas to the green pastures of his youth - electro-slanted melodic techno and post-rave ambience with an eye on classics of his early career like Tango 'N Vectif. From the cinematic opener Scaling and the simple melodies of the single The Fear with vocals by a Japanese-born, British-based author named Kazumi, Paradinas keeps it simple throughout. Royal Astronomy offers very little for fans of Paradinas' work, and next to nothing for the electronic music fan- it's xB5-Ziq without the xB5-Z. It's hard to say at this point whether xB5-Ziq has lost his edge. I mean, it's conceivable that this record is just a transistion to something completely new and different. But one thing's for sure: this album is boring as shit. Listen free to µ-Ziq Royal Astronomy Scaling, The Hwicci Song and more. 14 tracks 58:12. µ-Ziq - Royal Astronomy - The Motorbike Track. The synths can sound a little cheap at times, especially today, but it still has a good deal of variety and some fun samples to top it off. Unfortunately I don't think this stands up as a strong album. Although there are some standout tracks here and interesting ideas, it just doesn't feel like a coherent whole. The cut-up breakbeats and perky rhythms of Carpet Muncher just sounds like an outtake from Lunatic Harness; Mentium sounds like a poorer imitation of Aphex Twin one of his clanging-banging-ominous-industrial-sounds moods. Maybe Mike P is demonstrating that he can make music in many different styles and moods but there's too much variation and not enough individual style to unify everything. In fairness, Autumn Acid is a sick tune; and so is Burst your arm, although you could argue that this sort of dark mashed up take on jungle/d'n'b has been overdone - it still sounds banging at high volume.Definitely one for fans of Mu-ziq but I wouldn't recommend it as starting place.

It's almost worth buying this album for Goodbye Goodbye alone

Mike Paradinas work has always been quite underrated. Sure, he ain't always a master of sound like Aphex Twin or Autechre and this album may sound very dated at times (tracks like Goodbye Goodbye is an exception when it comes to sound). Yes, the drums on "The Fear" are pretty weak but it has some really pretty vocals by Kazumi Kato featured throughout as well on some of his other releases (Lexicon is another great track where the drums sound better). The compositions on this album are pretty varied and keeps you interested through the entirety of this classic release by µ-Ziq. It's decent and does not deserve a 3.0/5!Here are some top picks: "56", "The Fear", "Autumn Acid", "Carpet Muncher" & "Goodbye Goodbye".

Pretty average in my opinion. 2 songs are a highlight. 'The Fear' & 'Goodbye, Goodbye'. Both are very good and both are very catchy. Rest of the album I don't really remember much

Goodbye Goodbye is glorious. Filled with so much nostalgia for me. Beautiful tune.

This is one of µ-Ziq's best overall releases, and perhaps his best LP release under that alias to date. I'm not sure what "Vimster" (the only other reviewer as of 5/7/11) was listening to when he wrote his review, but this is a delicious bit of IDM to enjoy.

Agreed! Royal Astronomy is an excellent album, my favorite by him.
Steep
amen to that!

Dear me, this must be Mike P's worst offering to date. It's as slick and uninteresting as this sort of cut-up beat stuff gets, not hard enough to be pulse-increasing, not relaxing enough to be ... relaxing, and just plain dull. Sorry, lads, it has to be said.

exactly, 2018, sitting in the office and listening to Goodbye,Goodbye on headphones - still gives me chills
