"A terrible pressing from SCHEMA. The first two songs on Side A are riddled with crackling surface noise and also on the last two songs of Side B. Pathetic. So I bought the CD of this exceptional album which is perfect. The vinyl however is for the rubbish bin. Shame on SCHEMA "????????????
Alsantrius
Bad pressing and questionable mixing. Filled with pops and cracks. At least has a CD included.

Either the source of this is an original (not great condition) LP or this is one of the worst pressings for a new record I've ever bought. Just put on my second copy and it also has a huge amount of absolutely horrendous surface noise. Given up on this one.
Mot
Does anybody else notice occasional pops on this release (particularly on the A side)?
HappyLove
The whole of the first couple of tracks is riddled with pops and the rest of the record isn't exactly quiet. I'd say this is comfortably the most noisy new record I've ever bought. Needless to say it's being returned.

Stefano Torossi’s Feelings is one of the last great jazz instrumental albums that should be experienced on vinyl, and in glorious mono if at all possible. Many people wave off mono productions, or consider them of lesser value, when the fact is, a mono recording is an engineering marvel of production, sound, instrument placement within a room … and the fact that the sound comes at you full blown, occupying the entire listening space, and giving no quarter to stereophonic effects.Riding the funky groovy wave of what most know from the Superfly and Pappa Was A Rolling Stone outings, Feelings is an infectious vibe laden grouping of songs that finds all of the right notes, and challenges the production by vamping the orchestra in just the right manner so that the music soars in both tonally and with colour. There’s an unqualified effortless found here, one that can set you on the right foot as the day begins, or wind the day down with a shimmering cool swagger. The sound is not expansive, though having said that, it’s not locked in a box either, it’s more that the sound manifests itself in a restricted manner, moving the listening in a prescribed direction, creating an attitude that is controlled by the musicians, rather than allowing one to wander off into the either.Feelings is street jazz at its very finest, a welcomed adventure every time it’s topped onto your turntable.*** Some production and issue notes: Feelings was first been released in Italy by Carosello Records, using the pseudonyms of Jay Richard and Gary Stevan, done for contractual reasons and restrictions which prevented Brugnolini and Torossi permission to appear on outside projects. To that end, it’s rather unclear as to why in its subsequent publications, with particular reference to “Musica Per Commenti Sonori” (1986, cat. no. CO8605), this album has been released only on behalf of Torossi Stefano, who said, “We all worked together, including Brugnolini, and consequently, we all signed together the deposit document of each selection, dividing the royalties in equal parts.” Still an odd story, but then, the music business is full of them.Review by Jenell Kesler

The sound on this LP is excellent, of course the original music production was incredible so that helps.

On the surface the LP doesn't look too clean (checked on two different copies). I compared the sound to the Golden Pavillon release. The sound of the Schema release is more open, has more treble and less bass. The total level of the two vinyl releases are almost equal. The strange thing of the Schema release is the panorama - the level of the left side is much more lower than the right side. There is a difference of 2,5db! You can also check that on the CD version, which you also get by buying the Schema LP - there is the same panorama behaviour. On the Golden Pavillon release the panorama is well balanced! Unfortunately I don't have a original copy to compare. Generally speaking I dislike the panorama behaviour of the Schema, but prefer the general open sound to the Golden Pavillon. Without knowing the sound of the original LP I would assume that the Schema is closer to the original one than the Golden Pavillon, which has a more modern sound of bass...

Just to add: My copy doesn't play with crackling surface noise... maybe these bad pressings - which others are claiming - occured with later represses (without mentioning)...

Any opinions on the sound quality on this release contra the other reissues?
Adrietius
The best quality sound in the reissues of this album is on the labael easy tempo
Vertokini
Listening to it right now, noticed they upped the treble on percussion a considerable amount, a bit too much do you think?
Lcena
The sound quality and pressing are both very good ; this release is licensed from Carosello so is a legit reissue. However, it's not stated anywhere where the sound source comes from... Original master tapes I hope. And the music, just fantastic!
Folsa
Excellent to my ears, crisp and clear, a real pleasure to listen to, nice tight bass. Great Sound and good pressing and artwork.
