Album

Who's Next is the fifth studio album by English rock band the Who. It developed from the aborted Lifehouse project, a multi-media rock opera written by the group's Pete Townshend as a follow-up to the band's 1969 album Tommy. The project was cancelled owing to its complexity and to conflicts with Kit Lambert, the band's manager, but the group salvaged some of the songs, without the connecting story elements, to release as their next album. Eight of the nine songs on Who's Next were from Lifehouse, the. Who's Next - The Who. Much of Who's Next derives from Lifehouse, an ambitious sci-fi rock opera Pete Townshend abandoned after suffering a nervous breakdown, caused in part from working on the sequel to Tommy. There's no discernable theme behind these songs, yet this album is stronger than Tommy, falling just behind Who Sell Out as the finest record the Who ever cut. Townshend developed an infatuation with synthesizers during the recording of the album, and they're all over this album, adding texture where needed and amplifying the force, which is already at a fever pitch. Whos Next, regardless of what you may have been led to believe to the contrary, is neither the soundtrack to the realization of Pete Townshends apparently-aborted Hollywood dream, the greatest live album in the history of the universe, nor a, shudder, rock opera, but rather an old fashioned long-player containing intelligently-conceived, superbly-performed, brilliantly-produced, and sometimes even. If, instead of a Heavy-loving barbiturated kid who discovered in the wake of all the jumpin and jivin that accompanied the release of their last two albums that the Who resemble Led Zeppelin and so on on a gross aural level and must. Whos Next started life as a Pete Townshend concept entitled Lifehouse, which contained enough songs for a double album, but the project was eventually reduced to a single LP. Recordings for the album began in New York with Kit Lambert as producer, but the band werent satisfied with the results and returned to London to re-record them at Olympic Studios in Barnes with Glyn Johns. Most of the songs recorded with Johns appeared on Whos Next while the leftovers appeared on singles and later, Odds & Sods see album. Whos Next became the only Who album to make 1 in the UK charts. It peaked. Whos Next is the fifth studio album by English rock band The Who released on August 25, 1971. Regarded as one of the best rock albums of all time, Whos Nexts legacy lives on through its innovative combination of hard rock, progressive rock, and art rock, as well as its influential use of synthesizers. Whos Next Q&A. are the words Who's Next sang in any of the songs on Who's Next. Theyre sung on the song You Better You Bet, which came later, in reference to the album. what does who's next mean what is it trying to connote One possible explanation is that this is. Anyway, the band had virtually finished Whos Next, but still didnt have a clue about what to do about the cover. It was at this point that fate smiled benevolently. We were driving back through from a gig one night, doing about 110 miles per hour down the motorway which freaked me out. I never thought I'd describe The Who as dull, but this vinyl version of a classic album sounds as though Keith Moon was playing under a duvet The drums are so lifeless, and the rest of the band too sound muffled.
